PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To box surplus articles by hand and prevent the congestion of the articles by providing a first boxing section for boxing the articles by a boxing machine and a second boxing section for boxing by hand of workers and also providing a classifying means for sorting and feeding the articles to the first and second boxing sections on a carrying line. SOLUTION: Fruits and vegetables A... are discharged in respective grades from sorting sections (a)... on a sorting conveyor 2 to a feed conveyor 3 and then the fruits and vegetables are fed to first and second boxing sections 16 and 21 through an arranging conveyor 4. A sorting member 13 oscillating in the left and right directions is provided on a downstream end of the arranging conveyor 4, and usually the fruits and vegetables A are fed on the arranging position (d) of a storage conveyor 14 on the side of the first boxing section 16, and the fruits and vegetables A of given numbers are boxed in compliance with a box B by the boxing machine 1. When the fruits and vegetables A are almost full on the storage conveyor 14 or the like, the sorting member 13 is set in the state of facing the feed conveyor 15 to feed the fruits and vegetables A to the side of the second boxing section 21 carrying out the boxing by hand.
