PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is to minimize a coupling capacitance produced due to the superposition of a signal bus line and a light shield layer. CONSTITUTION: The first substrate includes a driving circuit having a number of signal bus lines(31-1,31-2,31-3,31-4), a number of gate lines, a thin transistor electrically connected to a crossed point of the bus lines and gate lines, and a pixel portion having a number of pixel cells. The second substrate includes a light shield layer, and a color filter. A liquid crystal substance is filled between the first and second substrates. The signal bus lines are spaced apart from each other in parallel, and the space between the signal bus lines is covered with a light shield layer(43), so that the superposition of the signal bus line and the light shield layer is reduced by a pattern of the light shield layer to reduce a coupling capacitance and to minimize a delay and distortion of the signal.
