PURPOSE: A hub containing automatic IP(Internet Protocol) allocation function is to provide a hub to automatically allocate IP to a client PC configuring LAN(Local Area Network) using DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). CONSTITUTION: An RJ-45 terminal(1) is a configuration to connect with an ADSL router, a modem or an ISDN modem through a UTP cable. An ethernet controller(3) connected with a CPU(5) controls an ethernet using a RTL8019 chip. The CPU(5) as a part to control a hub(10) operates as a proxy server by executing an IP sharing program stored in ROM. An ethernet controller(7) using the same RTL8019 chip as the ethernet controller(3) is connected to a plurality of RJ-45 terminals(11), so as to be connected with client computers. A hub controller(9), executing a hub function, uses a RTL8308 8-port 10/100 ethernet switch controller, comprising a switching function in addition to a dummy hub function, to improve the speed of LAN.
