The fuel pump unit (23) is integrally connected to a fuel-air mixture supply device (21) connected to an inlet opening on the rear of the engine (16) and delivers fuel from the fuel tank (10) to the supply device. For a multi-cylinder engine the supply device is connected to the inlet opening of each cylinder.
