A container (1), suitable as a hot-fill container, includes a controlled deflection flex panel (3) which may invert and flex un- der pressure, such as hot-fill conditions, to avoid deformation and permanent buckling of the container (1). The flex panel (3) in- cludes an initiator portion (8) which has a lesser projection than the remainder of the flex panel (3) and initiates deflection of the flex panel (3).
