PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an eddy current speed reducer useful for weight and cost reduction in which a guide tube can be machined easily. SOLUTION: An eddy current speed reducer comprises a brake drum 8, coupled with a rotary shaft 2, at least one movable magnet support tube 25 disposed in the brake drum 8, and a large number of magnets 15 coupled with the outer circumferential surface of the movable magnet support tube 25 at a constant interval, wherein a brake force is generated in the brake drum 8 by an eddy current based on the field from the magnets 15. The sidewall of a guide tube 22 and a magnetic plate 41 are formed integrally of a soft magnetic body. The side wall is made thick at a part corresponding to the magnetic plate 41 and made thin at other parts.
