LUBRICITY IMPROVER FOR FUEL OIL AND FUEL OIL COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an additive for low-sulfur fuel oil exhibiting lubricity in low-sulfur fuel oil and exhibiting high performance in terms of low-temperature characteristics, oxidation stability, water separability and rustproofness as well, and to obtain a low-sulfur fuel oil composition containing the above additive. SOLUTION: This additive as a lubricity improver for low-sulfur fuel oil with a sulfur content of <=0.05 wt.%; essentially contains a monohydroxy compound A of the general formula R-(CO)m-(OA)n-OH (R is a 1-18C hydrocarbon group; A is a 2-20C bivalent ?hydrocarbon group; (m) is 0 or 1; (n) is 1-10) having the following characteristics: solubility parameter (SP number): 8.5-10.0; HLB number: 0.5-9.6; molecular weight: 120-150; hydroxyl number: 75-450; and pour point: <=-5 deg.C.
