<p>A process for removing adhering bisphenol/phenol crystals from the surface of cooling tubes in a cooler utilized in a bisphenol/phenol crystallization part of a process for preparing bisphenols which process consists of shutting down one cooler in at least a two cooler crystallization process without stopping the crystallization process lowering the temperature of the operating cooler by at least 1 °C, preferably 1 to about 30 °C, heating, preferably with steam, the shut-down cooler for a time sufficient to melt the adhering crystals of bisphenol/phenol, preferably about 2 to 60 minutes, and then returning the de-scaled shut-down cooler back to operation.</p> |
