PURPOSE: A vacuum fluorescent display is provided to improve a luminous efficacy and to prevent a charge from generating in an insulation layer, by focusing an electron emitted from a line cathode to a fluorescent layer. CONSTITUTION: A vacuum fluorescent display comprises a board(31), a wiring layer(32), a conductive layer(35), a fluorescent layer(36), a grid(37), a line cathode (39)and a focusing electrode(40). The wiring layer is formed in a predetermined pattern on the board. The conductive layer is electrically connected to the surface of the wiring layer. The fluorescent layer is formed in a predetermined pattern on the conductive layer. The grid is established on the fluorescent layer. The line cathode is established on the grid. The focusing electrode is established on the boarder of the conductive layer and is applied with a potential of a different polarity from the conductive layer.
