PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect torque fluctuation causing power swing of a magnetic coupling or the power swing so as to improve reliability of control driving by calculating driving torque from a rotational speed of a induction motor serving in a driving source. SOLUTION: A control rod drive mechanism controlling output of a nuclear reactor and using a magnetic coupling is provided with a position detector 3 connected to a rotary shaft, 2 in an induction motor 1, a speed detector 21, and a controlling means 20 connected to them and constructed of a speed monitor 21a and the like, for example. If a speed equivalent to predetermined driving torque set below a power swing torque in magnetic couplings 5, 6 is detected, the motor 1 is stopped and brakes 1b, 4 are actuated. An acceleration detector may be arranged around the magnetic couplings 5, 6 for detecting vibration generated in a power swing time. Alternatively, the number of generation of power swing is counted for correcting control rod position information from the position detector 3.
