PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving magnet of linear motor which can improve the thrust by enlarging the strength of a moving magnet, and also can reduce the eddy current loss. SOLUTION: In a moving magnet linear motor, where a moving magnet 22 is arranged capably of axial displacement in the magnetic air gap of the stator iron core frame having an exciting coil, the moving magnet 22 includes a magnet holding frame 30 of nonmagnetic metal, where a plurality of retaining pieces 28, 28, etc., are arranged in tubular form at equal intervals and a magnet piece 32 divided into plural pieces, and each magnet piece 32 is inserted and retained in the groove 38 made in each retaining piece 28 of the magnet holding frame 30, and also a ring-shaped holder 36 is fixed to the end of each retaining piece 28 so as to support each magnetic piece 32. Hereby, the strength of the moving magnet 22 becomes high, and also a circumferential eddy current is cut off by each retaining piece 28 of the magnet holding frame 30 and the magnet piece 32 divided into plural pieces, so that the eddy current loss is reduced, the thrust rises, and the motor efficiency is improved.
