The invented exchangeable cutting tip of substantially prismatic form has an upper face (2), a fundamental surface being opposite to and substantially parallel the upper surface (2) and side surfaces (3). Each pair of adjacent side surfaces (3) intersect in a corner (6a, 6b) of the cutting tip and each side surface (3) intersects with the upper face (2) in order to form a cutting edge (5). Each cutting edge (5) consists of a main cutting edge part (5a) beginning at one corner (6a, 6b) of the cutting tip and an auxiliary cutting edge part (5b) ending at the other corner (6a, 6b) of the cutting tip. On the upper face (2) it is provided with ribs (12) for deflecting chips from the cutting edges (5), whereby each rib (12) projecting from the region close to a spot of transition of the cutting edge (5) main part (5a) to the cutting edge (5) auxiliary part (5b) is substantially aligned with said region and is distant therefrom by a portion of the upper face (2). |
