PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct and reduce yaw caused by positioning a magnetic head to a specific position and vibration due to the yaw in a magnetic head and a disk tester. SOLUTION: A magnetic head 12 and a disk tester include a magnetic head that is selectively positioned to a ceramic disk being rotatably mounted to test the head or the disk or both of them. The magnetic head 12 is fixed to a movable rest being electrically and mechanically controlled. In this case, the movement of the movable rest causes a corresponding head to be moved, and at the same time causes the yaw of the movable rest to occur. The measurement value of a position on the straight line of left- and right-side part of the movable rest is detected, is measured, and is fed back to a control system. The control system responds to the difference between a desired command position and the actual one of each side part of the movable rest, and an actuator 26 adjusts the position of each side part of the movable rest until the difference (and hence the yaw) is substantially eliminated. Furthermore, during positioning operation, vibration in a yaw direction is reduced, thus reducing the correction time of the corresponding magnetic head.
