PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image forming device side to discriminate the content of a cartridge suitable for mass production. SOLUTION: The lever 30 of the toner cartridge 3 is provided with a magnet Mg and the cover 2 of a printer 1 is provided with a Hall element Ha. The magnet Mg and the element Ha are arranged to be opposed when the cover 2 is closed. In the printer 1, the element Ha detects magnetic flux from the magnet Mg when the cover 2 is closed, and discriminates whether or not the content (toner) of the cartridge 3 is the adaptable one according as it is on or not.
