MASTER INFORMATION CARRIER

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the products control of a magnetic recording medium such as a hard disk recorded with preformat by forming the shape pattern of a ferromagnetic thin film corresponding to the trinsic information. SOLUTION: The region 1 is the forming region of a preformat information pattern formed on the surface of a nonmagnetic substrate 3. The forming region 2 of a carrier information pattern corresponding to the information trinsic for the master information carrier is provided inside the region 1. The information, e.g. for discriminating the individual master information carrier is recorded on the region 2. When the preformat is recorded by using such master information carrier, the information intrinsic to the master information carrier is simultaneously recorded on the disk medium. As the result, the discrimination is easily made from the disk medium which master information carrier is used when the preformat is executed. The information trinsic to the master information carrier is formed with the shape pattern of the ferromagnetic thin film similarly to the preformat information pattern.
