PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter having an inexpensive light shielding body having low reflectance and high light-shielding property and to flatten the surface profile by forming an etching preventing layer comprising indium tin oxide(ITO) on the surface of color filters and forming a light-shielding body in the border region of color filters. SOLUTION: Red, green and blue color filters 17a to 17c are formed on an upper glass substrate 16 to enable a color display. Each color filter 17a to 17c is arranged at a specified distance from adjacent filters and a light- shielding body 18 is applied to prevent decrease in the picture quality due to mixing of colors of adjacent pixels or due to leaking of the light source rays emitted from the back light 13 without passing through the color filters. In the process of applying the light-shielding body 18, light-shielding films are formed on the color filters and in the spaces between the color filters. Then in the process of etching the light-shielding films by RIE, an etching preventing layer 19 consisting of ITO is formed on the surface of each color filter so as to prevent the etching of the color filter. |
