Functional fluids comprising as a base oil at least one compound selected fr om the group consisting of a glycol, a glycol ether, an ester, a hydrocarbon, a nd mixtures thereof and as a multifunctional additive composition the mixture o f a benzotriazole, a derivative thereof or mixtures thereof together with 1,2, 4- triazole, a derivative thereof or mixtures thereof. The functional fluids exhibit increased resistance to corrosion and reduced sediment formation and are especially useful as brake fluids.
