PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle which is designed with a side face normally open not to cause the decrease of air quantity in blowout modes. SOLUTION: A vent hole 26 is opened in an end plate 23 for a rotary door 13 and a communication port 27 communicating with the vent hole 26 is opened in the side face of a heater case 10 opposed to the end plate 23 for the rotary door 13. A second side face passage 28 passing from the communication port 27 to a side face blowout port is provided outside the heater case 10. Most of air temperature-controlled by an A/M door 12 flows to an air passage passing through the opening 25 of the rotary door 13 and blows out of a blowout port passing through the air passage into a room, but part of air flows out of the vent hole 26 in the rotary door 13, flows from the communication port 27 in the heater case 10 into the second side face passage 28 and blows out of the side face blowout port through the second side face passage 28.
