PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a cylinder head and a cylinder block from deforming, and surely maintain air tightness between the two. SOLUTION: A gasket 1 is a three tiered structure which is overlapped a first surface layer plate 3 on at least a lower surface of a middle plate 2, and which is overlapped a second surface layer plate 4 on the middle plate 2. The first surface layer plate 3 is folded with an edge 2a of the middle plate 2 expanded so that the inside of the first surface layer plate 3 becomes a cavity to form an expanding part 3a, and the first surface layer plate 3 is further overlapped on an upper surface of the middle part 2 at a part in the vicinity of the edge 2a of the middle plate 2. A sectional shape of the first surface layer plate 3 in the vicinity of the edge 2a of the middle plate 2 is a nearly circle.
