PROCESS FOR PREPARING POROUS BIO-CERAMIC MATERIAL

PURPOSE: A process for preparing a porous bio-ceramic material for a substitute for bone transplant is provided which can control the crystal structure and composition of the bio-ceramic material. CONSTITUTION: A process comprises the steps of (a) using cancellous bone of animals; (b) obtaining cancellous bone removed organic material from the cancellous bone of animals by heating; (c) dipping the above organic material removed cancellous bone in a phosphate solution; and (d) obtaining the porous bio-ceramic material by sintering at above 900°C. The phosphate solution is alkali metal phosphate, alkali earthmetal phosphate or ammonium phosphate solution. The porous bio-ceramic material by this process can be effectively used as a filler for bone defect.
