PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an inductive load, prevent reflection of high frequency power supplied, and supply high frequency power effective for an electrodeless discharge lamp. SOLUTION: An electrodeless discharge lamp has a discharge tube 1 having mercury as one constituting element of sealed gas; a plurality of coils 2a-2c wound around the discharge tube 1; a pair of conductors 3a, 3b connecting a plurality of coils 2a-2c in parallel; and one or plural capacitors 4a connected in parallel to at least one coil of a plurality of coils; and in order to light the discharge lamp by supplying high frequency power to a pair of optional power supply points 5a, 5b of a pair of conductors, frequency of the high frequency power is resonated in a pair of power supply points. A matching device 7 whose output terminals are connected to a pair of power supply points in a pair of conductors and a high frequency power source device 11 whose output terminal is connected to an input terminal of the matching device 7 are installed, and in order to light the discharge lamp by supplying high frequency power to a pair of optional power supply points of a pair of conductors, frequency of high frequency power is resonated in a pair of power supply points.
