PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate the amplitude and phase of a signal of each antenna element within a transmitter-receiver of a communication system where transmission and reception are conducted by time division as in the TDD(time division duplex) system independently of external information during communication with respect to an array antenna used for the transmitter-receiver. SOLUTION: A 1st transmitter 1-3-1 has a means 1-5-1 that transmits a transmission signal to an antenna element 1-1-1 and feeds back the signal to at least one of receivers 1-4-1 to 1-4-k. Each of other transmitters 1-3-2 to 1-3-k than the 1st transmitter has a means 1-5-k that transmits a transmission signal to a corresponding antenna element among antenna elements 1-1-2 to 1-1-k and also to a 1st receiver 1-4-1 corresponding to the 1st transmitter. The amplitude and the phase of a signal of each antenna element are calibrated with a weighting according to a desired directivity obtained from the amplitude and the phase of an output of the 1st receiver 1-4-1 and each amplitude and each phase of outputs of other receivers 1-4-2 to 1-4-k than those of the 1st receiver. The calibration is conducted within a reception time slot period.
