PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To repeatedly use a battery by providing an openable liquid injection section on a battery container, and replenishing a liquid. SOLUTION: A liquid injection section is preferably provided on the flat portion of a battery container, it is constituted of a threaded circular hole and a threaded plug, the plug is airtightly screwed into the hole having the diameter of three times the thickness of a surrounding member or below, and airtightness can be easily maintained. A sealant of an alkali-resistant electrolytic material such as Teflon or nylon is preferably formed on the threaded surface of the plug, and the airtight state is maintained at the operating pressure or below of a safety valve provided on a battery. A battery life is judged based on an increase of the internal resistance caused by the exhaustion of an electrolyte in a separator due to the swelling of a positive electrode or the pulverization of a hydrogen storage alloy, and pure water or an electrolyte composition liquid is better supplemented when the internal resistance becomes larger than 1.5 times the initial value. The liquid is preferably supplemented until the internal resistance becomes 1.5 times the initial value or below, and a battery life is efficiently prolonged.
