PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously realize both improving an ink discharge efficiency and speeding up refilling and highly accurately print at high speed by varying a distance between an orifice plate for discharging ink drops and a heater board where heating elements as heat energy-generating means are arranged. SOLUTION: A movable orifice plate 11 with a plurality of orifices 11 is overlapped via a distance L to a heater board 3 with a heater 2 for discharging a recording ink with heat energy. The ink is filled from a first ink liquid chamber 6 to a second ink liquid chamber 7 through an ink channel 4. When the ink is completely discharged and not started to be refilled, L=0 is held. The plate 1 is moved from this state to flow the ink from the shut channel 4, thereby starting the refilling. The orifice 1 is moved to shut the channel 4 after the ink of some amount is refilled. A heat energy is applied to the heater 2 thereby growing air bubbles. The grown air bubbles are connected to the air, thereby discharging ink drops. |
