PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a therapeutic agent for viral hepatitis that inhibits interferonβfrom steeply rising in its concentration in blood, maintains and increases the improvement effect of the viremia in the viral hepatitis with dissociation of the main effects from the side effects. SOLUTION: The objective therapeutic agent is obtained at least by being made to contain interferonβas an active ingredient. This agent includes interferonβin an amount of <=300,000 I.U./hr, preferably it is stored in a hard vessel in the solid state. When it is applied, the agent is made liquid, and an injector that can do continuous injection or infusion is used to effect intravenous administration for more than 20 hours. In a preferred embodiment, this therapeutic agent is continuously given for >=6 days. As the viral hepatitis, are preferably cited the hepatitis B or the hepatitis C. The time needed for the single administration of this gent is preferably 24-48 hours and the administration rate is preferably 1-3 ml/hr.
