PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a corrosion resistant member exhibiting high corrosion resistance to halogen corrosive gas and to provide a method for producing it. SOLUTION: A composite body contg. at least aluminum and preferably SiC is charged into a vessel charged with aluminum fluoride powder and water, and, after that, the vessel is heated, by which the composite body is subjected to heat treatment at >=100 deg.C, and aluminum exposed to the surface of the composite body is covered with fluoride preferably contg. an aluminum hydroxide- fluoride main crystal phase.
