摘要 PURPOSE: An automatic adjusting device for a camber using a high tension bar of a McPherson strut type suspension system is provided to enhance turning stability with a negative camber in an outer vehicle wheel by pulling the high tension bar combined with the upper end of a strut. CONSTITUTION: An automatic camber adjusting device consists of a strut(3) combined to the upper end of a knuckle(2) installed in a vehicle wheel(1); a lower arm(4) combined with the lower end of the knuckle; a bracket(6) combined with the upper end of the strut through an insulation(5); and high tension bars(7,8) fixed to the brackets. A left screw and a right screw are formed in each end of two high tension bars. The screws are inserted into a sleeve(9) and the screw of the sleeve is engaged with the driving gear of a step motor(10). The step motor is connected to an ECU(electronic control unit) to receive information from a steering angle sensor(11), a rolling sensor(12) and a yawing sensor(13). When a vehicle turns clockwise, an outer vehicle wheel has a positive camber and the ECU transmits current to the step motor. Then, the sleeve is rotated to pull the left high tension bar. Due to the high tension bar, the strut leans inward and the outer vehicle wheel has a negative camber. Therefore, turning stability is enhanced.
