<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector detector with a wide vector detection range where data are processed in real time without increasing the scale of the detector and to provide a motion vector detection method. SOLUTION: In the case of outputting a direction of a picture address where a difference of received picture data and each of picture data of one preceding frame corresponding to an address within a prescribed range before and after a picture address of the received picture data is minimized, a motion vector value of one preceding frame read from a vector storage means 103 corresponding to the image address of the received picture data is added to a reference address from which the picture data are sequentially read from the picture storage means 102. Furthermore, a sum between an obtained vector value and a motion vector of one preceding frame read from the vector storage means 103 corresponding to the image address of the received picture data and the obtained vector value is outputted as a motion vector and the sum is written in a picture address location of the vector storage means 103.</p> |
