PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent transfer dust possibly caused on the side of a primary transfer entrance without spoiling a paper free property. SOLUTION: This is the image forming device of an intermediate transfer system by which plural color reproduced images successively formed on an image carrier are successively superposed on an endless intermediate transfer body and are electrically primarily transferred and a primarily transferred image on the intermediate transfer body is secondarily transferred altogether on a recording material. In this case, a bias roller 32 for the intermediate transfer body is provided on a moving downstream side from the contact area of the image carrier 1 and the intermediate transfer body 10, and a primary transfer nip part is provided with an earth electrode 31, the image carrier 1 and the intermediate transfer body 10 are brought into contact at the position of a primary transfer entrance roller 33 grounded.
