PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stretch and retain a power transmission wire by holding it from the outer periphery of an aluminum conductor. SOLUTION: This method performs the manufacturing of a gap-type power transmission wire, comprising a process 11 for applying a filler to the periphery of a steel core 1, and processes 13, 14 for intertwining aluminum conductors with one another on the periphery of the steel core having the applied filler. In this case, in a spacer mounting process 11 in front of the aluminum conductor intertwining processes 13, 14, the steel wire 1 is brought into a stretched form as is the case of its installation, and a spacer for partially embedding the gap between the steel core 1, and the aluminum conductors is mounted to the periphery of the steel core 1 in that form. By partially embedding the gap between the steel core 1 and the aluminum conductors with the spacer, when the wire is held from the periphery of the aluminum conductors, its tightening force can be allowed to act up to the steel core 1.
