摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring cigarette-smoke particles which is small and lightweight and by which cigarette smoke particles can be detected with high efficiency by a method wherein scattered light from the particles to be detected is detected by a light receiving element which is arranged so as to be adjacent to, and nearly at right angles to, a detecting air current. SOLUTION: A laser beam which is radiated from a light source 10 is passed through an optical axis O1, and it is condensed in the condensing point C of a detecting air current A by using an aspherical lens 11. When particles, to be detected, which flow in the detecting air current A are passed through a part inside the beam diameter of the laser beam, scattered light is generated by the individual particles to be detected. The scattered light to the direction of an optical axis O2 is received by a light receiving element 12 so as to be converted into an electric signal, and the electric signal is sent to a pulse counting and integrating circuit. This scattered-smoke-particle measuring apparatus limits the particles to be detected to indoor dust particles which contain cigarette smoke particles. The detecting sensitivity of the particles in a large particle size is lowered in order to form a particle detecting apparatus in which a difference due to a particle size is small. Thereby, the detecting sensitivity of the particles in a relatively small particle size is increased, and the cigarette smoke particles can be detected effectively.
