PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner which improves capacity at the time of cooling and heating operation withholding the size of an outdoor heat exchanger from becoming large. SOLUTION: A refrigerating cycle comprising a compressor 1, a four-way valve 2, a first auxiliary heat exchanger 7, an outdoor heat exchanger, an electronic expansion valve 4 and an indoor heat exchanger 5, is formed by closing a first on - off valve 11 and opening a second on - off valve 12 in cooling operation. Another refrigerating cycle comprising the compressor, the four-way valve, the indoor heat exchanger, the electronic expansion valve and the outdoor heat exchanger, is formed by opening the first on - off valve and closing the second on - off valve in heating operation. Further, a natural circulation cycle comprising the first auxiliary heat exchanger and a second auxiliary heat exchanger 8 is formed.
