METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PURIFYING POLLUTED SUBSTANCES CONTAINING HALOGENATED ORGANIC COMPOUND

A method for purifying polluted substances containing halogenated organic compounds which comprises reducing a nutrient-containing liquid by use of a reducing agent and introducing the resultant liquid into polluted substances, or introducing a groundwater having been reduced by use of a reducing agent into polluted substances. In an embodiment, the groundwater is contacted with the reducing agent during circulation between an aquifer and a housing. A nutrient for a heterotrophic anaerobic microbe may also be introdued into polluted substances. The method can be used for purifying substances polluted by halogenated organic compounds with good efficiency and with ease.
