PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key box device of favorable operability by which a user is capable of entering and leaving a desired room of plural rooms by only inputting fingerprint data, and a control method thereof. SOLUTION: This key box device is provided with a fingerprint reading means 3 to read fingerprint data of a user, a registered data memory means 5a to memorize fingerprint data of registered persons, and data related to rooms which the registered persons are allowed to enter or leave, and a control means 6a to collate the fingerprint data of the user with the fingerprint data of the registered persons, select the room which the user is allowed to enter or leave, and unclock a window containing its key.
