PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine inspecting step device of a construction machine capable of safely, easily and efficiently inspecting and improving the inside of an engine room. SOLUTION: A step 20 capable of making a worker ride thereon provided inward of an engine hood 7 and mounted to the upper surface of an engine room 6 in an operable manner is provided across an engine 10. The step 20 is provided to a position where the worker can easily made specific inspection and improvement in the engine room 6. Then, the step 20 is mounted to a frame member 23 provided to a frame 25 of the engine room 6. Protection covers 21 and 22 for covering rotary and heated parts are provided in a detachable manner.
