PURPOSE: A power dissipation reduction circuit for a television is provided to stop the driving of a switching transistor in order to reduce the power loss during power on and off. CONSTITUTION: A power dissipation reduction circuit for a television includes a first rectifier/regulator(202), a SMPS transformer(203), a second rectifier/regulator(207), a switch(204), a photo coupler(211), a drive voltage supply, a switching current supply(206) and a feedback current supply. The first rectifier/regulator(202) deals with input current. The SMPS transformer(203) receives the output of the first rectifier/regulator to generate output voltages of a predetermined number. The second rectifier/regulator(207) deals with the output of the SMPS transformer. The switch(204) controls the current pass of the transformer(203). The drive voltage supply delays a drive voltage and applies the delayed result to the switch. The feedback current supply increases the feedback current of the photo coupler(211).
