HYDROPHOBIC DIAMOND PARTICLE FOR ELECTRON RELEASE ELEMENT AND ELECTRON RELEASE ELEMENT AS WELL AS THEIR PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide diamond particles which are capable of efficiently releasing electrons and is hardly deteriorated in an electron release characteristic and to provide an electron release element of an electric field release type which is capable of stably releasing the electrons with a simple element structure and high density. SOLUTION: Hydrophobic diamond particles of >=90 deg. in contact angle of water with the particle surface are used as the diamond particles of the electron release element 3 having a cathode electrode 2, an anode electrode arranged to face the cathode electrode spatially apart therefrom and the diamond particles as the electron release material arranged in contact with the cathode electrode. The element is so constituted that the electrons are released from the surface of the hydrophobic diamond particles directly toward the anode electrode.
