The machine has an synchronous external rotor motor with a stator (2), a wound stator packet, a ventilated axial brake (4) if appropriate, a rotor (9) carrying a drive plate and rotatable on an axle and a rotor monitoring system. The rotor is passed through the stationary stator and axle so that is accessible from the stator side. The axle is statically supported on the inner side by a third bearing (13) between two outer bearings (7,8).
