PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod, which is connected to a rod body with a pair of shanks with ball wherein the axes are orthogonal to each other, has sufficient strength and can be manufactured with ease and at a low cost, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This connecting rod comprises a first and second shanks 4 and 5 with ball and a rod body 1, which is swingingly and rotatably connected to the first and second shanks 4 and 5 with ball. In the first shank 4 with ball, the shank section 4a is orthogonally connected to a rod body 1, on the other hand, in the second shank 5 with ball, the shank section 5a is connected to the rod body 1 in parallel with each other. In addition, the rod body 1 is die-cast molded with the ball sections 4b and 5b of the shanks 4 and 5 with ball inserted as cores.
