摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-grade image display which is high in lightness and saturation and is excellent in contract by disposing >=2 colors of coloring layers and colorless layers in prescribed patterns so as to correspond to pixel electrodes on a light reflection layer of an element array substrate or a transparent substrate. SOLUTION: The element array substrate 2 constituting this reflection type liquid crystal display device 1 is arrayed and provided with a plurality of thin- film transistors(TFTs) 12 for driving liquid crystals and pixel electrodes 13 on the substrate 11. The pixel electrodes 13 are used commonly for light reflection layers and black matrices are formed on insulating layers 13' disposed in the spacing parts of the respective pixel electrodes. The colored layers 15 and the colorless layers 16 are disposed in prescribed patterns on the respective pixel electrodes 13. The lightness of the colorless layers is controlled and the desired lightness may be obtained by the shutter operation of the liquid crystal layer 5 by the pixel electrodes 13 according to such constitution. The high-grade image display which is high in the lightness and saturation and is excellent in the contract is thus made possible.
