PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate and display the number of photographable sheets with respect to the remaining capacity of a recording medium in accordance with the image size after the compression determined by photographing conditions. SOLUTION: An image compression section 22 subjects the compression processing of an image information of an image memory 21 and records the images into a recording medium 23 according to the instruction of a judgment processing section 24. The image compression section 22 subjects the recorded information to image expansion and writes the expanded images into the image memory 21. The images are displayed on a television monitor 26 via a D/A conversion section 25. The image sizes when photographing is executed under the respective conditions are stored in the judgment processing section 24 and if the image size per sheet at an ordinary magnification is defined as P, the enlarged image size as Q and the remaining capacity of the recording medium 23 as Z, the remaining number of the photographable sheets at the ordinary magnification is eventually Z/P sheets and in the case of enlargement, the easy calculation as Z/Q sheets is possible.
