PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a silver halide photographic emulsion grains comprising micrograins narrow in grain diameter distribution and reduced in the number of coarse grains. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a silver halide photographic emulsion having grains corresponding to sphere diameter of 0.04μm or smaller, is characterized by executing nucleation and/or growth of crystals in an aqueous medium of 30 deg.C or lower, and during that time controlling the minimum or lowest value of a silver ion concentration pAg at 23 deg.C to be in the range of 7.5-8.9.
