PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe pile for supporting a building which has a connection strength large enough to endure also reverse rotation and pulling up on the occasion when it is pressed in with rotation and, moreover, which can be connected surely with another one without necessitating welding at the site. SOLUTION: This steel pipe pile has a male joint part 3 in the lower end part and a female joint part 2 engaging with the male joint part, in the upper end part. The male joint part 3 has engaging projections 6 projecting radially on the outer peripheral surface of the pile main body 4, while the female joint part 2 is constituted of a cylindrical body 7 wherein engaging grooves 8 having vertical groove parts 9 provided in the inner peripheral surface and guiding the engaging projections 6 in the longitudinal direction of the pile main-body 4 from the upper end and horizontal groove parts 10 continuing to the vertical groove parts and guiding the projections in the circumferential direction are formed, and of a rotation-stop pieces 13 which fit in the vertical groove parts.
