PURPOSE: A producing method is provided to prolong life of a side trimming knife and to produce a side trimming knife inexpensive than cemented carbide. CONSTITUTION: Carbide, borate or a mixture thereof is finely dispersed on a base plate of nickel, titanium, iron or co-base having excellent abrasion resistance and shock resistance by using a general steel knife as a base material(4) and by using a spray and fuse method or a plasma transferred arc welding thus a side part(7) of a side trimming knife is formed. The carbide, borate or the mixture thereof is contained in various alloy base plate to increase abrasion resistance. The amount of the carbide, borate or the mixture thereof is controlled according to the thickness of the steel plate to be trimmed within a range of 5 vol% and 60 vol%.
