PURPOSE: An image display device is provided to improve the light utilization efficiency as P-polarization and the S-polarization are used by projecting the combined polarization of P-polarization and the S-polarization to the screen using the projection lens. CONSTITUTION: A device comprises a light source(102), a source lens(104), a source stop(106), a prism(107, 108, 109), a color separation instrument(110, 112), a light path changing instrument(114, 116), a modulation lens(120, 122), a TMA panel(140, 142), a projection stop(150), and a projection lens(152). The light source(102) outputs the light rays. The prism separates the light rays of red, green and blue into P-polarization and S-polarization and it is formed to have polarization beam splitter side. The TMA panel changes the S-polarization and the P-polarization into an image and the projection lens(142) projects the red, green and blues rays into the screen.
