PURPOSE: A method for purifying Korean lacquer (named as 'o-chil') is provided which, by adding urushiol and polysaccharide in a certain ratio to the Korean lacquer, reduces purification time and drying time of the Korean lacquer and improves tensile strength and transparency of the Korean lacquer. CONSTITUTION: A method for purifying Korean lacquer comprises mixing an untreated Korean lacquer (named as 'saeng-chil') with an organic solvent and repeatedly filtering the mixture to obtain urushiol, washing the residue generated from the filtration with a distilled water to obtain a filtrate, freeze-drying the filtrate to obtain polysaccharide, and then adding 1 - 50 % by weight of the urushiol to an untreated Korean lacquer and optionally adding 0.1 - 2 % by weight of the polysaccharide, on the basis of the untreated Korean lacquer.
