PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a solid-state image pickup device by individually turning on/off the power supply and/or clocks to the plural processing systems of a solid-state image pickup device and increasing/ decreasing the processing speeds of the systems. SOLUTION: This solid-state image pickup device is constituted of a sensor processing system composed of an image sensor 12 and its driving circuit 13, a data processing system 14 composed of an A/D converting section 16 and a DSP(digital signal processor) 17, an AE/AF processing system which only performs the operation of a simple automatic exposing function (AE)/automatic focusing function (AF), an output processing system 19 which encodes data in accordance with each output device, and a system control section 28 which controls the power supply or operating clock to each processing system. The control section 28 is provided with a means which causes each processing system to individually turn off or on at least the power supply or operating clock to each system and the means turns off at least the power supply or operating clock to at least one processing system based on a control signal from the control section 28.
