PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin identification device capable of instantaneously performing maintenance at a device installed place. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a coin identification means 22 for identifying a coin fed to the feeding port 21 of the coin, a coin sorting gate 24 for sorting the identified coin, coin storage passages 41 and 42 capable of storing the sorted coins respectively up to a fixed number, housing/returning means (32 and 33 or the like) for respectively housing or returning the stored coins, a control circuit part 38 capable of controlling the respective means and a communication control means 39 capable of reading/writing true coin range setting data, setting data for the various kinds of operations and the management number of the coin identification device in the control circuit part 38 from the outside by communication.
