PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely set the output of an objective branching device, without increasing the load on each power unit for supplying power to the branching devices in respective areas, when an output setting request is caused for the branching devices in a cable broadcasting system which is capable of setting the output and the stop of a broadcasting signal from the branch output terminal of each branching device arranged in a transmission line by a command signal, which is transmitted from a center device to the transmission line. SOLUTION: When a branch output setting request with respect to plural branching devices on branch lines occurs at the side of the center device, a head end controller reads output setting data with respect to the all branching devices to be the setting object of the branch output (S100) and transmits the command signal in order, at rate of one branching device at every area covered by each power unit which is distributed and arranged on the branch line (S110-S130). Moreover, the transmission interval of the command signal to one area is controlled to be more than a timeΔtn, which is required for the branching device transmitting the command signal first to complete the setting operation (relay energizing) of the branch output (S140-S160).
