A thermally operated relay or circuit breaker has an adjustment comprising a pin 8 transmitting the motion of, e.g., a bimetal 2a to an arm 3, the pin being secured by easily fusible material 10. To set the operating point the appropriate full load current is passed through the device and the fusible material is melted to allow the pin 8 to assume its desired position into which it is fused when the fusible material is allowed to set. As shown, a three-phase cutout has three separate bimetals 2a, 2b and 2c and the operating point of each bimetal is adjusted in this manner to ensure identical response in each phase. In a modification (Fig. 4) the bimetals are ganged by rocking arms 13 to act on two pins which are adjusted as in the first embodiment. |
